For years all that was widely known about this particular catamaran was that it had been located in a junkyard in Florida and that it was the only Samoan known with what appeared to be an original hardtop.

If found it would be quite a prize and only the fourth South Seas Samoan known to exist.

I've heard lots of stories designed to throw one off the trail.  "It was destroyed", "The owner would have to remove a section of fencing and dig out cars to free it", "The owner wouldn't sell it for any price", etc.

For years this was the only photo known of this particular ghost ship.

One of our more enthusiastic collectors has scored big!  This boat was purchased and removed from the debris on Wednesday.

The top turned out to be original too.  We now have much better pictures of it.  The boat has grown quite a bit of moss while it awaited rescue.

It is already at a top notch restoration shop!  More photo's to come as the work progresses.

There she goes!  Loaded onto a flatbed and heading out. The top and windshield are in the van.

In an attempt to get more audience participation, I would like to ask our members to add their guesses to this thread, as to who scored the Samoan?  (It wasn't me).

Well, what do you think?

My guess would be a southeastern glasshead.

Congratulations to whomever got the boat. I am sure it is in good hands.

Did Bill get another one?

Or perhaps a first mothers day gift for Becca.

Congrats to who ever it is. I hope to see it on the water someday.

Thanks Andrew, Gene...  And the prize goes to Dell!  He was the first to guess the new owner by phone.  I've been getting a lot of phone guesses!

Rob Raymond of Florida got this one.  He has a very nice collection including a Spacecraft Saturna and a Lone Star Caribbean among others.  Glad to see it outta the junkyard.  It's finally safe now!

Excellent idea Badger Bob!  Were going to follow up on it too.  Here is the start of the restoration thread, under "Projects"
