I'll be putting up some pictures for Rob Raymond as his catamaran restoration progresses. This should be an interesting thread as I already have a number of photo's coming in! Looks like it will be done to a very high standard!

For now, just this single post to get the thread started...

Once Rob got the 19 foot catamaran hauled home and cleaned up it didn't look so bad. The fact that the original windshield survived intact is very fortunate.

The hardtop is the real prize though.

What hardtop?  Well, it was too fragile to make the trip out back so it rode home from the junkyard inside the van.

Just a bit longer than the U-Haul.

The inside of one of these boats is very roomy once the debris is removed.

Now it's time to start the restoration!  First order of business is to find someone capable of working on such a valuable boat with a large enough shop and staff to do it right.

Rob carefully researches the available rebuilders and picks one that might be up to the task.  They are just finishing up on another project so Rob has a chance to critique their work.

True, they only employ 50 people, but Rob decides their enthusiasm for the Samoan outweighs this shortcoming!

...Just figured the thread needed a little culture!

She may be belly up, but at least it looks like the guys remembered where they put the big piece.

Here, a number of wood blocks and a 2x4 have been placed to assure a straight surface. Some new fiberglass has been affixed to the fin area to stiffen it up prior to reassembly.

Work continues to progress as the old gel coat is worked over and the hull straightened out.  Lots of little wood blocks along the side, not completely sure about their exact purpose as I am not so closely involved in this one.  I'll try to find out.
